Cleaning Copper Bottom Cookware

Hello All! Happy (late) New Year, and welcome to my first blog posting!

Well, today was a fun day filled with family, frisbee, and puppies! Oh, and of course milkshakes. How could I forget the heavenly, homemade chocolate milkshakes?!

These are my three, adorable nephews (A, J, & E). The hubs and I got to spend all afternoon with these three goofballs!

Speaking of goofballs, who doesn’t love playing frisbee with two, seven month old, seventy-five pound, White German Shepherd puppies? That would be me, who decided to hold my baby nephew and snap a few photos instead. ๐Ÿ™‚

Action shot! A throwing the frisbee, Uncle blocking his face, and puppy S about to get whacked!

Aww, good try, J!

Anyways, back on track with my discovery…
Tonight, I was able to finally clean up the bottoms of our gently used Reverware copper bottom cookware! We bought them from a thrift store about a year ago, but was never able to get them to look clean. Cleaning the bottoms just took a little bit of elbow grease, and now they look like new. You’ll never guess what did the trick. It only takes one ingredient. That’s right. ONE INGREDIENT!

And the winner is — ketchup! Yep. Ketchup. It’s probably one of the cheapest products to use, especially since just about everyone has this delicious condiment in their pantry.

I made sure the bottom of my pot was dry before I began. I don’t know if being wet or dry will make a difference, but I felt as though it helped the ketchup work its magic better. Next, I took out some handy dandy ketchup and squirted about a half-dollar size amount in the center of the pot. Then, I took a green scotch-brite scrubbie and went to town! I did not have the scrub soaking wet, but it was damp. Every now and then when the ketchup got too thick, I would rinse the scrub and pick up where I left off. On the really stubborn places, I had to squirt a little more ketchup on the spot and scrub over it.

I unfortunately did not take pictures during the process, but these are my results!

Isn’t that just lovely? Now, after this fulfilling day, I was able to sit down, read some of my book, write my first official blog post, and sip on a mug of chai tea that seemed to hit the spot.

Please let me know if you have any special cleaning secrets that you would like to share! I would love to try them!
Also, if there is anything in particular you are interested in that you would like me to write about, please don’t hesitate to ask! I will do my best. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great night, and a wonderful remainder of your weekend! God Bless!
